going light into dark or dark into light

 it doesn't much matter
once you've lost your sight
.

so the hand makes its way
down rough or smooth lines
from night into day
soft fingers marking time
.

whether switch turned off
or sun burning on
facing smiles, tears, scoffs
silent traveler does no harm
.

going dark into light or light into dark
doesn't much matter
once you've hit your mark.

Thinking on the album artwork to Tommy.

Album artwork by Mike McInnerney

I liked the 'idea' of the Tommy character. Rather than trying to portray him, I wanted to picture his experience of being in a world without conventional senses. I thought it would be limitless and unbounded, yet trapped in an environment made for people who have all of their senses.
