Last night, All of the Animals Were Set Free
Sure, you could call it a dream (or only a story) but last night...
The cages came down. In some cases, force was involved. The rhinos and bulls and the elephants pressed themselves against bars that bent and turned and over ended themselves.
Like butter. Steal hands, steal horns.
In some cases, other cases and cages magically disappeared. One moment glass, then next, open air.
The lions and the monkeys went roaring/whooping out. Hapless humans (of which there were a few) were either smart to stay away. Or else, well...
They were barriers that disappeared as well.

Der Blaue Reiter were pretty damn cool, with artist Franz Marc being the focus of these thoughts. In 'The Fate of the Animals', a forest full of deer is threatened. Unseen forces (bullets, bombs, vicious air) rip through the menagerie of graceful necks and legs.
The left hand side of the painting was burned, nearly destroyed. Marc was killed during World War I.
